I've seen a few tech blogs around that write weekly updates. I don't know if I will have enough to write about each week, but I suppose I shouldn't stress about it, and just write when I can.
The main thing I learnt about this week is meta data on websites, such as JSON-LD and microdata (there was one more but the name escapes me). There really wasn't much to it though, and it seems that anyone can just go to Schema.org and figure it out pretty quickly. The tricky part is accounting for all the data.
I might try and implement what I've learned here, but how much do I want people to read this?
This week I also completed a couple of CSS Battles. Here are some I've completed in the past that I think are cool looking.
I'm not so interested in getting high scores, but just trying to build stuff and be as accurate as possible whilst keeping the code lean. Looking at their homepage now, this battle looks really interesting, so I might try these next. I encourage whoever is learning web development to give sites like these a go - they really help when you don't have any idea of what to do.
The other thing I did this week was continue to work on this website. I thought I liked my first layout but I guess I didn't. What I struggle with mainly is that it's a very text heavy website - I don't really have any graphics for it. It's why I found an excuse to add an image to this post - gives me something to look at (and I like the colours).
In any case, might be worth studying some typography (wait, isn't that just reading?) and maybe I'll find some inspiration.
heh, seems like I had more to write about than I thought I did. That's nice.
